We met Tuyen in the winter of 2016 through family friend and long-time W.A.G.S. 4 Kids supporter, Cindy Olds. It tends to happen that way around here...word of mouth and greatest need magically combine to bring these amazing families to our door. And so we found ourselves on the floor in Lisa's living room with Tuyen asking the same question we ask every family "How can we help?" to which she answered "I want my daughter to be more independent."
Her gait shaky, TuYen visibly swayed with every stride she took, often needing assistance. And so you can imagine that in May of 2017 when this video was captured - Tuyen's first day meeting Noah, taking those first confident steps outside of Grafton Correctional Institution, that everyone including Tuyen were feeling the magic.
It has been just over 6 months since Noah joined Tuyen and Lisa as part of their forever family. When prompted, Lisa will be the first to tell you that Noah has definitely helped Tuyen gain independence.
"Noah is Tuyen's best friend and Tuyen is Noah's best friend. It is challenging to be a teenager with a handicap and Noah is there comfort and listen. He is so much more than a service dog!"
