Gabriela Grace "Gabby" is a beautiful, loving, creative, spicy little 6 year old girl. Her name Gabriela means, " God is my Strength." She views the world in a way that is so pure and innocent. Gabby enjoys the simplest things in life. Twirling outside with her favorite toy, splashing in puddles, or creating artwork filled with dimension and color. You will always see Gabby with her favorite Mickey Mouse in her hands and a smile.
Gabby was born premature with her twin sister Francesca. As an infant she met all her milestones until 18 months, Gabby stopped speaking. She starting spinning and flapping seeking sensory input, and her eye contact diminished. During the pandemic making a diagnosis was hard to obtain. Our local school district did evaluations and diagnosed Gabby with Level 3 autism. Gabby then was formally diagnosed at UH Rainbow with Level 3 Autism, Mixed expressive lanuage and severe delays. The diagnosis was the key that unlocked the opportunity for early intervention. She had genetic tests, occupational, speech, and behavioral therapies plus school full time. She has gained her words back and works very hard at her communication daily. She also uses a computerized device to help communicate her needs.
A service dog from Wags 4 Kids would be a blessing to Gabby. In social situations a service dog will help her feel less anxious. Gabby loves hugs and tickles, a dog can provide her with that comfort and pressure. We truly believe a service dog will help Gabby with her communication skills and with routine. Safety is number one , Gabby likes to dash, having a working dog with an extra set of paws to help us in public. A service dog will help our entire dynamics of our home, will bring extra safety, love and laughter. Though Gabby has faced challenges early in life and in the future, she continues to shine. Her smile and laughter light up a room. We need more Gabby's in this world 🌈
