Isaiah Orgel is a super happy, kind, fun loving and enthusiastic 7 and ½ year old. He loves animals, swimming, music, jumping, singing, and playing outdoors. Isaiah was privately adopted at birth from in 2015 and we were also blessed to be able to adopt his full biological brother (Elijah) at birth in 2017.
When Isaiah was 3 and ½ years old he was diagnosed with moderate-severe (level 3) Autism with speech and communication delays. Isaiah is an attention seeker and vocally and physically stems. We hope that a service dog can help with deep pressure techniques that help to calm and regulate emotions when needed. Isaiah has sleep delays and often gets up for hours at a time during the night. He is a co-sleeper now and our hope is that a service dog can help comfort him throughout the night and sleep independently. We hope that working with his service dog will improve his communication and help to make his interactions with others for comfortable.
Over his 7 years the family has had older small dogs and cats. Unfortunately, those older animals have passed on. Even at an early age Isaiah has shown interest in animals and thrown a ball for one of our family dogs even at 2 yrs old. Isaiah is very interested in animals now but with most interactions he prefers to sit off to the side and view them interacting with others. He will pet a dog under supervision but seems like he is not sure how to interact with them. We are hoping a service dog will help him understand how he can interact directly with animals. We hope that Isaiah would be able to feed, water, play with, and walk a service dog independently with appropriate training. We also hope that having a companion like a service dog with help him communicate with others about his service dog which could be helpful in starting a conversation with others.
Isaiah is loved so much by his family and teachers. He has such a fun personality and great sense of humor. He is on an IEP for school but mostly on par academically with peer aged children and follows a visual schedule for daily activities along with other prompts. Isaiah currently attends a behavioral services clinic for school and has excelled in all aspects of reading, writing, and spelling. Isaiah mostly communicates in one to three word sentences but does have a good vocabulary. In addition to a daily schedule for interaction with his service dog, we would also like to use social stories to help prepare Isaiah for a service dog.
While we hope that a service dog will help with communication and co-sleeping there is the potential for improving Isaiah's overall day to day life. We appreciate all who read this bio and have taken the time to get to know a little bit about Isaiah. We are so thankful for any donation towards a service dog for Isaiah. Also, we are all so excited to have another member of the family joining us soon. Isaiah will help care for his service dog and we feel he will love his new friend.
