The words "small but mighty" describe Izzy, who was born almost four months premature weighing only 16 ounces.
Izzy was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy in 2014 at the age of 3. Affecting her legs and right side, Izzy has difficulty walking independently, but is able to use a reverse walker and a manual wheelchair to get around. Izzy also has Failure to Thrive, which lead to her premature birth, and she is dependent on a feeding tube to get the nutrition she needs to survive.
Izzy faces the daily challenges of severe anxiety that stem from her many procedures, surgeries, and hospital stays. This makes interacting with others very difficult for her. She is beginning to make some friends but has been diagnosed with Selective Mutism and finds it hard to talk to others her age.
Five-year-old Izzy, who weighs in at a whopping 29 pounds, currently attends kindergarten and is now keeping up academically with her peers. She loves to laugh, create art projects, and have dance parties. When Izzy grows up she hopes to be a Veterinarian.
A Service Dog will be beneficial to Izzy because he will be able to help soothe and calm her when she is anxious as well as assist her with daily living skills that will provide her with the opportunity to become more independent as she grows up.
